TABC’s annual Highland Park shabbaton was an inspiring and uplifting experience for the close to 50 students who made the trip down to the Edison/Highland Park community last Shabbat. Several times throughout the year, TABC brings its ruach on the road to various communities where commuting students can be the hosts and they can experience the warmth of other kehillot. The shabbaton kicked off with a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat led by Zachary Krohn ‘26 at Congregation Ohr Torah, followed by a seudah in the shul’s social hall. The Friday night oneg at the home of Joseph Goldberg ‘26 was a highlight, as the seniors led the group in zemirot. Local 8th grade boys were welcomed to the oneg as well, where they had the opportunity to experience the warmth and brotherhood of TABC. On Shabbat morning, the boys had the option of attending either the Ohr Torah teen minyan or the Ahavas Achim teen minyan. At OT, davening was led by Adiv Rimberg ‘27 and Etai Berkovits ‘27, and at AA, davening was led by Akiva Greengart ‘25 and Yonatan Halstuch ‘25. Each of the minyanim were followed by hot kiddushes and lunch at the homes of host families. After Mincha and a shiur by HP-native Rabbi Chanan Strassman ‘05, the shabbaton concluded with seudah shlishit and Havdala at the home of Etai Berkovits ‘27.
