The TABC JV Soccer team rolled into Riverdale on Thursday night for a tough matchup against the undefeated, defending champs, SAR Sting. It was their first game back after Pesach break, and the Storm were hoping to shake off the rust and grab their first road win of the season.
But things didn’t start out great.
TABC came out a bit shaky, and SAR took full advantage—jumping out to a 5-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. It looked like it might be a long night. Coach Oren Glickman made some quick adjustments, including moving captain Adiv Rimberg ‘27 to the backline, and suddenly, things started to click. The defense tightened up, and on the other end, the offensive duo of Tani Fleischmann ‘27 and Nate Brotsky ‘28 started heating up. By halftime, the Storm were right back in it.
In the third quarter, TABC kept the momentum going. They controlled the pace and got strong minutes off the bench from David Gampel ‘28, Natan Rouach ‘27, and new addition Jack Salomon ‘28. The Storm built a small lead, but the drama wasn’t over yet. Starting goalie Eyal Lemberger ‘27 went down with an injury, forcing backup Noam Simon ‘27 to step in. He didn’t just hold his own—he came up clutch with some huge saves to help preserve the Storm cushion.
When the buzzer sounded, TABC had pulled off a wild 13-9 upset. Fleischmann netted 5 goals, Brotsky added 4, and the team walked away with a win that could spark a big second half of the season.
