Teaneck Chabad Learns About Chanukah

Teaneck Chabad had many special activities during Chanukah. Rabbi Grossbaum from the Living Legacy came to the grand Chanukah party to run the olive oil factory. The children (and parents, too) really enjoyed the experience of making authentic olive oil. They smashed olives with their hands, then put them into a grinder to get the “olive juice.” They then poured the juice into a centrifuge to separate the oil. Everyone saw the oil rise to the top and then used the oil to light the menorah. The next set of visitors came on a fire truck to teach about fire safety, which is especially important during Chanukah when fire lights the menorahs. The firemen, Lt. Robins, Harold Haynes and Richie Schroeder, spoke to the children about what to do if they are in a fire. The children then all had turns going on the truck and pretending to spray the hose. Thank you Teaneck Fire Department Station Number Two.
