For the past few weeks at Teaneck Chabad Preschool the students have been exploring the art and methods of various artists. The children have been creating their own masterpieces based on those artists’ methods. They explored Wassily Kandinsky, an influential Russian painter and art theorist, who is credited with painting one of the first purely abstract works. The children had fun painting in his style using concentric circles.
The children also learned about Andy Warhol. They have been relating colors to emotions throughout the school year, and they created an abstract visual art piece to further display how they feel. A child is able to point to the image to help express their feelings.
What was it like for Michelangelo to paint a ceiling? The pre-nursery explored this method by laying down on the floor and painting on paper that was taped to the bottom of a table. It was as if they were painting on a ceiling themselves.
The preschool children can’t wait to learn about more artists and their techniques so they can continue painting masterpieces.
