On Tuesday, April 1, Tenafly Chabad Academy had the privilege of hosting a special donor event for Our Heritage, an organization dedicated to supporting Jewish day schools in welcoming students transitioning from public school. Founded in August 2020, Our Heritage provides grants to help these students integrate successfully into their new school communities.

During the event, guests toured the school, observed the learning in action, explored the facilities and met with faculty and students. The formal program featured inspiring words from Rabbi Shain, Rabbi Schneuer and the donors, emphasizing the importance of Jewish education. A highlight of the event was hearing from five students who shared their personal experiences being in a Jewish school. They spoke with pride about their Jewish identity, the joy of being surrounded by peers who share their values, and the deeper understanding they are gaining—not just of Jewish practice, but of the why behind it.

As a meaningful conclusion to the event, each student who joined Tenafly Chabad Academy from public school received a beautifully inscribed Chumash dedicated by Our Heritage, symbolizing their commitment to their Jewish learning and growth. Tenafly Chabad is honored to be part of this initiative and looks forward to continuing to support and celebrate their students on their journey.
