In honor of Lag B’Omer, grades 1-8 took a trip to the resting place of the Chabad-Lubavitch Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Shneerson, in Queens. The Ohel, as it is commonly referred to, is a place where people from all walks of life come to pray. Lag B’Omer is viewed as an auspicious day to ask for blessings and yeshuos (salvation) from Hashem through the merits of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai (Rashbi). Many believe their prayers and requests are more likely to be heard and answered on this day. It was an inspiring experience for the students, as they stood in a place of deep holiness and poured out their heartfelt tefillot, feeling connected to something greater than themselves.
