The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Teaneck’s own Corey Cyrulnik as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Noam seventh grader is a member of the Noam Knights Basketball team as well as the MGBL 7/8 champion Pachter Orthodontics team. When asked about Cyrulnik, Pachter Orthodontics Coach Sammy Moer said, “Great Team player who gets his teammates involved and shows great respect for the players, coaches and referees. He hit some big shots for us including the game winning shot in the championship game.” Noam Knights Basketball Coach Elan Sanker added “Corey’s dribbles left defenders stumbling, and his passes zipped to teammates with pinpoint accuracy. Defensively, Corey is a tenacious presence, with quick feet and smart positioning, disrupting opponents’ plays. But beyond these impressive skills, Corey was the first to help an opponent off the floor after a tough foul and always offered a “good game” with a genuine smile, win or lose. Corey offers a word of encouragement to a teammate after a missed shot and always showed respect to opposing players. He showed everyone that playing hard and being a good sport weren’t just for the pros; they were the mark of a true player, no matter the age.”
