The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Yoni Engelsohn as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Teaneck native, Yeshivat He’Atid eighth grader is one of the leaders of the 8-0 He’Atid Hurricanes soccer team that finished the season as the number one team in the YMSSA. When asked about Yoni, He’Atid Hurricanes Coach Lance Friedman told the Jewish Link, “Yoni has been a standout leader for our soccer team, consistently showcasing his knack for creating plays and finding the back of the net. His overtime goal against Noam, a stunning strike to the far post, was truly a thing of beauty. As captain, his leadership is evident both during practice and in the way he prepares for each game. On the field, he inspires and guides the team with unmatched dedication and skill.”
Yoni, congratulations on being recognized as this week’s sportstar of the week.

Greatest sports accomplishment was recovering from my hip avulsion. My muscle pulled off a piece of bone, then I went back to soccer, and got hurt again. So I went to rehab. I changed the words to the Amy Winehouse song where she doesn’t want to go to rehab! It actually worked. Thanks to the nice people at Teaneck Kessler.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Pregame I stretch, kick the ball around the house hitting the couch, and my little sister gets mad at me.
