The Jewish Community Is ‘Overrepresented’

We are four of the five members of the Jewish community that Mayor Pagan threw off the zoning boards when he got elected. It did not matter to Mayor Pagan that we worked diligently, sacrificed our personal time away from our family to volunteer and serve every resident of Teaneck. It did not matter to Mayor Pagan that because of our position on the zoning board, some of us were being sued by an applicant personally, which is unprecedented, and we had to continue with depositions and spending more of our personal time even after we were thrown off.

All that mattered to Mayor Pagan was that we were from the Jewish community. When Mayor Pagan was questioned by several of the rabbis from the Teaneck Jewish community, Mayor Pagan’s response was “that the Jewish community is overrepresented.” Mayor Pagan has been posing himself eating pancakes and syrup on Facebook while allowing protests at shuls and anti-Israel car parades almost every week through Teaneck. Teaneck today is the most divided it has ever been. Mayor Pagan woke up 60 days before he decided to run for reelection to take a free trip to Israel. And finally, or maybe strategically, after becoming a candidate, spoke out against the divisive hateful rhetoric toward the “overrepresented” Jewish community … that also votes.

Mayor Pagan, where have you been for the last nine months? Your silence was deafening.
