The children of the Lauren Elise Bier Nursery School of Congregation AABJ&D in West Orange, celebrated Tu B’Shevat together. The threes and pre-k classes had a special Tu B’Shevat seder led by Rabbi Zwickler while the Tiny Tots and twos class had a special snack time together. Everyone enjoyed delicious dried fruit generously donated by Rivkie and Yaakov Moradi of Westco Fruit and Nuts. Thank you to the Moradis!

The pre-k class spearheaded a Tu B’Shevat fundraiser to plant trees in Israel. The children brought in tzedaka which was used for this endeavor. This project along with other activities was implemented to teach the children the significance of Tu B’Shevat. The children learned all about the monetary value of each coin and counted all the money that was collected. They were able to raise $110.11 which enabled them to purchase six trees in Israel. This was an incredible learning experience for the children. Not only doing the act of a mitzvah but also learning the value of money. This experience taught the children the satisfaction of successfully completing a project.
