The Mordechai-Trump Comparison

Since Mr. Max Wisotsky brings in Mordechai as a benchmark for Mr. Trump’s leadership in “Trump Is Not Quite Like Mordechai But He’ll Do for Now” (March 20, 2025), let’s see how this scenario plays out. We know that Mordechai followed mitzvot haTorah so we’ll take a look at how close or how distant Mr. Trump is to Mordechai.

It is written in Shemot, chapter 23, verse 18, “Midvar sheker tirchak (Keep away from falsehoods).” How close or how distant is Mr. Trump from Mordechai? Vayikra, chapter 19, verse 18, states: “Lo tikom v’lo tithar et b’nai amecha, v’ahavtah l’raiachah kamocha, ANI HASHEM.” (You shall not take revenge or bear a grudge against your people, and love your neighbor as yourself, I AM HASHEM).”

How close or how distant is Mr. Trump from Mordechai? The following citation is taken from Yoma, Daf 9b: “Aval Mikdash Sheni mipnai mah charav? Mipnai shehayeta bo sinat chinam (Why was the Second Temple destroyed? Because of unjustified hatred).” How close or how distant is Mr. Trump from Mordechai? Your choice, your call!
