We watched and we cried as we witnessed the atrocities of Oct. 7 and its aftermath right before our very eyes all over again. Having heard about the film “October 8,” we knew we had to see for ourselves what the world might be watching. The film, about the days after the horrific attack on Israel, clearly depicts the travesty that is festering today on our streets, in our neighborhoods, schools and towns, and on college campuses, with an intense escalation of distorted, pervasive hatred fomenting in our midst.
This film poignantly encompasses the enormity of the situation from A to Z and captures the reality of what is transpiring on American soil in its entirety as well.
The film clearly exposes the landslide of hatred, especially on college campuses whereby the protestors freely set up encampments, barricade buildings, block Jews from their own classes and dorm rooms, blatantly deface property at their whim and clearly get away with their seething and vile hatred. The very generation that strived for equality of all races, religions, ethnicities and cultures, has turned on the one democratic nation in the Middle East that upholds the very ideals that America has strived for since its founding. Do they not know that their apartheid accusations are another hypocrisy? Muslims serve in our Knesset, hospitals provide care to all religions and cultures, employees throughout Israel are from all denominations, and language postings are inclusive of Arabic all over the country.
A friend asked me if the film is difficult to watch, and my response was that no words or emotions can describe the shock we are all in and the film validates the truth we need to endure witnessing the erosion of real democracy replaced by outlandish discrimination and profiling.
To this day, over 59 hostages remain captive, both dead and alive. Israel had to end the ceasefire that barely existed by attacking Gaza both by air and ground all over again. This past weekend before Shabbat, my grandchildren were describing that sirens were again blasting and the threatening sounds were reverberating sporadically on the streets. The Iranian proxies, the Houthis, are now making their mark of terror.
America, watch out … the chant of “Death to Israel” is just masking what is to come for America. Their message, “Death to the Jews,” is a colossal plan to sabotage the world.
Our once prestigious colleges refrain from admitting racism by judging right from wrong with description of “contextual” significance.
As Netanyahu stated in his speech, the new generation of protestors with the “youth gone wild” have become useful “idiots” enabling and promoting the atrocities of terrorist organizations that will eventually lead to their own downfall on American soil and beyond.
Go see the film. “October 8” must be readily available for the world to see. As I looked around the theater, I questioned whether it was attended by only “us.” I am hopeful it will be easily accessible on streaming platforms and required for students in all schools to impact the next generation and the world at large. We must normalize our democratic ideals and reteach our youth along with facts and truths they don’t seem to care about anymore.
Never Again is now. Am Yisrael Chai.
