(Courtesy of United Hatzalah) United Hatzalah, the Israeli volunteer EMS, raised over $610K for its life saving work in Israel on Sept. 16.

The benefit event was a concert headlined by Matisyahu; other speakers included Michael Oren, former ambassador, as well as Rabbi David-Seth Kirshner. During the evening the Glaser family received the L’Dor V’Dor award to honor the entire family’s philanthropic nature. The family patriarch, David Luria, helped to dedicate three ambucycles that the family donated to United Hatzalah. “Speaking from generation to generation, we are fortunate to have our family; my mother taught us that giving is part of living,” remarked David Luria as he dedicated the ambucycles.

“It was such an incredible evening. New Jersey has been one of United Hatzalah’s most supportive communities from the get-go and it’s families like the Glaser family that allow our volunteers to save lives. Their entire family is so dedicated to doing good and we at United Hatzalah are so proud to honor their commitment to mitzvot. Thank you so much to the host committee and sponsors and to Andrew Glaser for helping us put together such a special evening,” commented Mara Soverinsky, regional development officer of New Jersey.
