Yom Ha’atzmaut at Yavneh Academy began with beautiful tefilla chagigit. The entire school then joined together on the fields for dancing, daglanut and special tefillot for Israel and Tzahal. The ruach and love for Israel was palpable. ECD students traveled all the way to Israel and visited Tzfat, Yam Hamelach, kibbutz, Tel Aviv, Yerushalayim and Eilat. Older students also “visited” many different cities and were engaged in related activities including sand art, candle making, creating Israeli flags, preparing tasty Israeli salad, learning to debate topics in the Knesset, Israeli dance, Chidon HaTanach and of course, playing matkot! The day concluded with Yavneh’s annual Yom Ha’atzmaut Family Celebration coordinated by YPAA. Thank you to event chairs Rachel Kieffer, Jen Lipstein and Merry Greenstein. Additional thank you and hakarat hatov to all of the faculty members and parent volunteers who made the Yavneh celebrations for Israel’s 75th birthday incredibly meaningful for the Yavneh family.
