Yom Ha’Atzmaut at Yavneh was a huge success. The early childhood began learning about Israel as soon as they returned from Pesach break. The classes were immersed in learning about different cities in Israel, tasting the delicious food, building their own Shuk, experimenting with salt, visiting a kibbutz, learning about Israeli artists and so much more. All of these experiences helped them prepare for the ECD trip to Israel on Yom Ha’Atzmaut!

Yom Ha’Atzmaut, Israel’s 77th birthday finally arrived! With passports in hand, the ECD children boarded flight 613 to Ben Guirion airport. The plane ride was exciting; there was an in-flight movie, treats and even a game! Upon arrival, the spirit of the day was immediate. They joined the entire school in singing, dancing and daglanut.

The children were then on their way to visit different cities in Israel including Tel Aviv, Tzfat, Jerusalem and Eilat. They made beautiful artwork, tasted shoko b’sakit, fished in Eilat, played Matkot on the beach, davened and put notes in the kotel, and even made graffiti art. It was very memorable. Before they headed back home, they had a pop up concert with Mr. Yoni at an amphitheater in Caesarea. It was awesome!

Lower school had an amazing time celebrating Yom Ha’Atzmaut with a full day of fun and meaningful activities. The morning started with tefillah and Hallel B’tzibur, followed by lively dancing outside and a school-wide tekes that brought everyone together in the spirit of the day. In the afternoon, each grade rotated through awesome Israel-themed stations—making Israeli salad and lemonana, creating art projects like chamsas and mosaics, taking on army training challenges and so much more. The Shuk in the gym, run by our incredible b’not sherut, brought the energy and flavor of Machane Yehuda right to our school.

Middle school Students experienced Israeli culture in a hands-on way—making pitas in a Bedouin tent, preparing delicious Israeli food and learning about the history and significance of the State of Israel. They wrote letters to U.S. senators advocating for Israel, crafted colorful Tzfat candles and explored key aspects of Israeli innovation and society, including the Iron Dome defense system and life on a kibbutz. They had an amazing day learning about Israel and experiencing a taste of Israeli culture.

A huge thank you to all the teachers and staff who helped make the day so special. It was a fantastic celebration full of ruach, creativity and hands-on learning about Israel!
