Yavneh Academy commemorated Yom HaZikaron 5785 with meaningful programs throughout the school. First and second graders participated in a beautiful tekes led by the incredible fifth grade students, who shared heartfelt stories about chayalim. The stories were interwoven with kumzitz-style singing led by Yoni Stokar. Arky Staiman joined Third through fifth grade, sharing powerful reflections about his recent service in Miluim after October 7. Mr. Yoni joined as well, guiding moving kumzitz moments throughout Arky’s talk creating a reflective and meaningful space for the students to connect with the day in a deep and age-appropriate way. In middle school, programming focused on remembering Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror. This year, Yavneh centered its program on the story of Ram Rotenberg z”l, whose courage and dedication was deeply inspiring. Through song, candle lighting and personal reflection, the students honored the memory of those who gave their lives for the State of Israel. The atmosphere was emotional, as everyone came together as a community to connect with the values of remembrance, gratitude and unity.
