The Yavneh Academy Haggadah Hackathon is a STEM experience designed to deepen sixth and seventh grade students’ understanding of Pesach and the Haggadah through hands-on learning. Students rotated through four stations that connected core themes of Yetziat Mitzrayim with technology and design. In one station, they studied the purpose of each item on the seder plate, observed a live demonstration of vacuum forming and created molds of the items to fill with chocolate—reflecting on the symbolism most meaningful to them. Another station focused on the journey of Bnei Yisrael through the desert, using pesukim from the Chumash to map their route as well as using Ozobots and block coding. Students also created personalized 3D printed bookmarks inspired by their favorite part of the Haggadah. In the final station, students used paper origami to craft frogs and design a discussion game to bring to their own seder tables. This program integrated Torah learning with STEM skills, reinforcing classroom lessons through meaningful, project-based experiences.
