YCT to Host 21st Annual Yemei Iyun on Bible And Jewish Thought

(Courtesy of YCT) For the last 20 years, teachers, rabbis and laypeople have come from all over the tri-state area and beyond (including Boston, Miami and Los Angeles) to join in a two-day festival and celebration of exciting and sophisticated communal Torah learning at the annual YCT Yemei Iyun on Bible and Jewish Thought in memory of Riva Koschitsky, z”l. Even through the challenges of two years of COVID restrictions and precautions, the Modern Orthodox rabbinical school located in Riverdale, pressed on and ensured that the learning would go on in a virtual manner.

This year, YCT is proud to be able to bring back its in-person Yemei Iyun that will also include a remote learning option for those who are unable to attend in person. The Yemei Iyun, generously sponsored by Eric and Tamar Goldstein, are held each year in memory of a true eishet chayil, Riva Koschitsky, z”l, who passed away in 2008. As in past years, at the Yemei Iyun, participants have the unique opportunity to hear directly from leading scholars and teachers of Tanakh and Jewish thought from Israel and the United States. This year’s learning program will take place on Sunday, September 17 at Congregation Ramath Orah, 550 West 110th Street in Manhattan, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Monday, September 18 at YCT, located at the Bayit-Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. In addition, there will be Zoom options of shiurim available throughout the hours of the event.

Leading teachers and scholars from Israel including Prof. Yonatan Grossman, Rabbi Amnon Bazak, Dr. Tova Ganzel, Shuli Mishkin, Judy Klitsner, Rabbi Yitzchak Blau and many others will join leading teachers from the United States including Rabbi Hayyim Angel, Rabbi Dov Linzer, Dr. Tammy Jacobowitz, Dr. Elana Stein Hain, R. David Silber, R. Nathaniel Helfgot, R. Shmuel Hain and many more. Most shiurim will be delivered in English but there will also be a number presented in Hebrew to give all those who want a taste of Torat Eretz Yisrael in the original.

The Yemei Iyun offer over 30 shiurim to be presented over the course of less than 30 hours on all areas of Tanach study, from the rich narratives of Bereishit to the religious pathos of Tehillim to the literary-theological speeches of the great prophets. In addition, as we approach Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur there will be special tracks devoted to shiurim on topics related to the Yamim Noraim. The Yemei Iyun are co-sponsored by the Center for Modern Torah Leadership, Congregation Ramath Orah, Drisha Institute for Jewish Education, Institute for Jewish Ideas and Ideals, 929 Tanakh Program, National Bible Contest, Yeshivat Maale Gilboa, Maharat, Midreshet Lindenbaum, PORAT and Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains.
