As one of the oldest and most iconic institutions on Staten Island, the Young Israel of Staten Island has served an instrumental role in the island’s Jewish community for over 50 years. During that time, the beloved neighborhood shul has played host to generations of families and thousands of simchas. Now, thanks to a massive renovation, the Young Israel of Staten Island can continue its proud heimishe legacy, ushering in a new era of smachot with its recently remodeled and absolutely stunning ballroom and social hall.
The beautifully appointed and elegant space holds as many as 400 guests and walls can be configured to accommodate smaller gatherings as well. The renovation also included a brand-new state of the art sound system and a completely redone kitchen that boasts top-of-the-line appliances and equipment.
Longtime member of the Young Israel of Staten Island, Mark Weiss, who is (among other things) a Hatzala coordinator and owner of the Dairy Palace said, “The shul provides a warm and friendly atmosphere and making a simcha there will be stress free and user-friendly.” He added, “It’s a versatile space that is an ideal setting for hosting any type of event from simchas to shul dinners and countless other organizational events.”
The shul’s sanctuary itself — the heart of this vibrant, Orthodox synagogue — was redone three years ago and serves as a magnificent backdrop for pictures. The Young Israel of Staten Island really is a perfect location for simchas, parties, vorts and organizational receptions. It is a beautiful shul, both physically and spiritually. Its many and varied minyanim make it ideal for accommodating brisim and bar mitzvahs, and the open chuppah in the shul makes for a picturesque setting that is simply superb for weddings.
Centrally located, the Young Israel of Staten Island is only two minutes off the Staten Island Expressway on Forest Hill Road. A 15-minute drive from Brooklyn and just 40 minutes from northern New Jersey, the shul has ample and accessible parking and guests will find their way comfortably and easily.
For those looking to make a simcha, the Young Israel of Staten Island welcomes all caterers as long as they have the proper hashgacha and are approved by the shul’s kashrut committee. Packages are available and the shul will work with all budgets.
