New York—The National Yiddish Theatre-Folksbiene’s June 9th Broadway Gala Concert will celebrate 50 Years of “Fiddler on The Roof,” 90 Years of Sheldon Harnick, and launch Folksbiene’s 100th season. Chairing the event will be Ellen and Peter Weintraub. Honorary Co-Chairs include Harold Prince, Frank Rich and Harvey Fierstein with a performance by Grammy-Award winner, violinist Joshua Bell. The gala will take place on June 9, 7:30 p.m. at The Town Hall in the Broadway Theatre district.
The all-star affair will entail a cavalcade of “Fiddler” alumni from around the world coming together in an exhilarating concert tribute co-conceived by Teaneck resident Folksbiene Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek and Gary John La Rosa and co-director Erik Liberman with gala producer Moishe Rosenfeld.
One of the country’s longest consecutively-producing theatrical organizations, The National Yiddish Theatre-Folksbiene will present the Gala in prelude to a highly-anticipated, event-packed Centennial Season that will culminate with a week-long international festival of Jewish performing arts in June 2015.
Chaim Topol, the Golden Globe-winning, Oscar- and Tony-nominated star of the classic 1971 film, will join the largest ever reunion of Fiddler alumni:
