Daniel Beer, 11, of Norwood died on Monday while attending Camp Nah-Jee-Wah, a Jewish sleepaway camp in Milford, Pennsylvania. According to reports, he was treated in the camp infirmary on Sunday night, after complaining of severe stomach pain and nausea, and was transferred to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, New York, on Monday morning when his symptoms worsened.
The cause of death is still under investigation, and a full autopsy report is pending, but at press time carbon monoxide poisoning had been ruled out. Several news sources have reported that three other boys from Daniel’s cabin who also complained of gastrointestinal symptoms were taken to the emergency room as a precaution and have since been released.
Daniel was the son of Jill and Sam Beer.
Camp Nah-Jee-Wah is part of the NJ Y Camps.
