Sunday, November 9 at Hempstead State Park, hundreds gathered together. Men, women, and children of all ages came out on this beautiful autumn morning, and we walked. We walked in the 1st Annual Walk-for-Leeor Walk-a-thon. We’ve all been touched in some way by Leeor. Leeor Devorah Perl, zt”l, at age 13 years, 8 months, and 2 weeks, passed away after a tragic accident in June of 2014. In her memory the Leeor Devora Perl Foundation was formed.
LEEOR is dedicated to enriching the lives of children, teens, and young adults of all Jewish backgrounds. Our goal is to help make Jewish education and activities more accessible. We offer enrichment opportunities, support projects, and scholarships across a wide range of disciplines.
In her yearbook, Leeor writes “…And so I choose to travel down the happy road, smiling the whole way, bringing cheer to others, and hopefully, they will pay it forward.”
Shaina Levin of Bergenfield remembers Leeor. She says, “In 2012, the first time I went to Camp Dina, I didn’t know anyone. Leeor walks up to me, smiled and showed me my bunk house. Leeor was sweet to everyone. This is why she touched so many hearts. We all miss her.”
