The Panthers Coed Basketball team of Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School, stayed undefeated this past Thursday with two wins. They won against Ecole 31-15, and that will be one of the two schools Park East plays this upcoming Thursday. But I’ve got to tell you about their game against CO-OP, this was Park East’s best game, and closest game all season. It was a battle, of two players in particular, #11 Mark Diary of Park East, and #0 of CO-OP school. CO-OP #0 started the scoring early for his team, and CO-OP became the 2nd school in this league to have a lead in a game against this Park East team, a lead as big as 8 points throughout the game. Player #0 of CO-OP was clapping, taunting the whole game, he was like impersonating that he’s the boss, I can shoot 3’s which he did, I can drive in on you and score which he did, I can play defense really well which he did, and I can draw fouls which he also did. And for Mark Diary of Park East, he was waiting for this, he was like, you’re gonna clap at me, and my teammates, well allow me to answer back, clap back at you, I’ll make some tough 3 pointers with you contesting, trying to block me which he did. I’ll even drive in, and get layups around your teammates which he did. I’ll play equally great defense which he did. And Mark Diary had some extra help in this game, #1 Nate Ottensoser (who inbounded the ball in one of the photos) had his best game of the season in this one, he struggled early, but woke up in the second half, made a clutch 3 pointer, was clutch on offense, very helpful on defense down low, and entering the fourth and final quarter, the game was tied at 29-29. Nate, got a bank shot to go, after 2:30 minutes of no teams scoring within the last five minute quarter, and gave park east 31-29 lead, #0 of CO-OP quickly tied it with just under two minutes to go. Then with just over 1:30 half to go, #0 of CO-OP school, got fouled on what looked like a long 2, ruled by the referee a 3, he shot 3 big important free throws, he made just 1. The lead was now, 32-31 CO-OP, there was no scoring for over a minute and park east had the ball, for the final possession with seven seconds left, CO-OP’s defense deflected the ball out of bounds, with just over four seconds left, then on another in bound play, #0 of CO-OP deflected the ball out of bounds again, still Park East, only two seconds left on the clock. Then on one last inbound from Nate Ottensoser to Mark Diary, he put up a 3 pointer before the buzzer and missed it!!! But wait, a foul? A foul! The referee called a foul on the 3, Mark then went to the free throw line rattled in the first, and swished home the second, didn’t attempt a third there was no need, as Park East, in their most wildest, best basketball game in years, came all the way back, down as many as 8 points early, to win this wild game 33-32. A pair of team wins, the students of park east watching the games, mobbed Mark, Nate and all of their teammates, after this incredible, unbelievable win. Next week as mentioned they’ll play Ecole again, along with a familiar opponent, Pine Street in hopes to go, 10-0, or in other words, “stay undefeated” Go Park East Go!
