8B Noam Knights Impress With Three Basketball Victories

On opening night of the basketball season, Noam traveled to RYNJ and came away with a 55-37 victory. The game was much closer than the final score would indicate, but Noam’s defensive pressure was too much for RYNJ to overcome. Billy Krause (20) and Yoni Mann (14) were the leading scorers for the Knights.

On Dec 2, Noam hosted Yavneh in a game that featured two of the league’s top teams. The game did not disappoint; both teams made terrific plays and competed at the highest level. Noam seemed to have the game under control with an 11 point lead with about 2 minutes to go. Yavneh did not give up and went on a furious rally that gave them a chance to tie with a few seconds left. But the Knights came away with a hard fought 43-40 victory.

Yoni Mann (7) played an outstanding game both offensively and defensively. Billy Krause (18) and Ari Kaminetzky (10) led the team in scoring. Nate Cukor came off the bench and gave the Knights a huge spark that helped carry them to victory.

Earlier this week the Knights headed to Deal New Jersey to face the Hillel Heat. After a long bus ride, the Knights were very sluggish to start the game and found themselves down 22-15 with a few minutes to go before halftime. Noam came out on fire in the second half, but every time it looked like they would deliver the knockout punch, Hillel kept on making big plays and big shots to stay in the game. The Knights led for most of the fourth quarter, until Hillel went on a late run to cut the lead to 4. Clutch foul shooting down the stretch helped the Knights hold on and secure their third victory of the season 62-54. The Knights were led by a dominating performance from Billy Krause (28) and the tenacious play and sharpshooting of Ari Kaminetzky (17) and Gabi Antosofsky (7).
