JLNJ Sportstar of the Week: Noam Kinderlehrer

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Gotham Burger would like to recognize Noam Kinderlehrer as this week’s Sportstar of the week. The 11-year-old Kinderlehrer is a solid contributor to the Yeshivat Noam undefeated 6th grade Knights, and is the top scorer on the MGBL Jewish Link of New Jersey team. This past Sunday, when team Jewish Link faced off against Citibank David Siegel, they played without swingman Shai Friedman (mazel tov on Eliana’s Bas Mitzvah). Noam did more than just fill the void created by Shai’s absence, recording double digit assists, rebounds and steals to go along with twenty plus points. The MGBL commissioner onsite told the JLNJ “Kinderlehrer was everywhere, he would steal the ball and take it up court one possession, and crash the boards, to outlet the ball on the next. A solid all-around game.”

In an interview with Noam, JLBC uncovered what makes him tick.

JLBC: Who would you say is your role model?

Noam: My Mom because she has always been there for me even in times where I did not do so well.

JLBC: Who is your favorite professional athlete?

Noam: Derek Jeter because he was always a good sport and played by the rules.

JLBC: What is your pregame meal?

Noam: My pregame meal is a granola bar and a snack.

JLBC: What is your earliest sports memory?

Noam: In [my] fourth grade MGBL team, we entered being the Cinderella team and upset the best number one team.

JLBC: What is your favorite sports memory?

Noam: When the New York Yankees won the World Series in 2009. The team had a couple of talented players but what made them so special is the way they played like a team

JLBC: What is your favorite thing to do when not playing sports?

Noam: Just hanging out with friends and chilling

JLBC: What is the best thing about being a sportstar?

Noam: I don’t mind being in the spotlight and trying to shine in heated moments and being a good role model for other people.

The Gotham Burger Sportstar of the Week will receive a $10 gift certificate to Gotham Burger. Please send nominees for next week’s Gotham Burger Sportstar of the Week to [email protected].
