Bikur Cholim of Bergen County (BCBC), along with the Bikur Cholim of Teaneck and the Bikur Cholim of Englewood, is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization, guided by Rabbanim of the Rabbinical Council of Bergen County. The goal of BCBC is to provide support, facilities, and services to ease the burden of families during trying times. We try to partner with our families to relieve some of the stress and effects of illness with compassion and concern.
To date, we have been arranging rides to medical appointments within Bergen County for those who are in need, as well as visitors for the ill who do not have local family. We coordinate meal trains with local shuls to provide for families who may be unable to cook during periods of medical need. We have also been responding to the needs of out-of-towners, helping them navigate the details of their medical stay within Bergen County. We are working with other chesed organizations to coordinate efforts. We hope to continue with all these efforts as well as introduce new initiatives that would be of benefit to our community.
We are currently looking for men and women who would like to join our volunteer core of sensitive and caring individuals, so that we can expand our services to those in need. We are looking for volunteers to help with the following: Meal trains, driving the elderly or ill to local doctor appointments, visiting people in need, or giving respite to a caregiver. As we expand, we are also looking for people with organizational expertise to oversee new projects.
