OHEL’S Rising From Divorce Screening Draws Large Teaneck Audience

Following on the hundreds who attended the Brooklyn debut of the film, an equally large crowd of concerned community members, men and women, attended the Northern New Jersey screening of OHEL’s groundbreaking new film Rising from Divorce at Congregation Bnei Yushirin in Teaneck.

Throughout the film, which is for all members of the community, OHEL aims to better educate the community about the impact of divorce, and the specific roles that the wider community, rabbonim, community leaders, and educators can play to help ensure that both parents of divorce and children of divorce can thrive.

Rabbi Steven Pruzansky provided Divrei Torah and focused both on the new dawn after divorce, as well as the community-wide role and varied responsibilities there are in addressing the specific needs of divorcees and especially children of divorce. Rabbi Pruzansky accompanied a professional panel of educators and mental health professionals who addressed and answered a myriad of questions after the 30-minute film showing.

Rabbi Jeremy Donath, OHEL’s Bergen County Community Coordinator says, “As reflective of the size of the audience, and the nature of the questions, the issues are very real and effect everyone, and OHEL hopes the film will be a catalyst for much-necessitated discourse and much belated action in every community, as it is incumbent upon us all to provide help where we can.”

OHEL has been inundated with community-wide requests for screenings of the film and will be announcing additional screenings and accompanying panel discussions.
