Yavneh Academy Travels for Lag B’Omer

Yavneh Academy students enjoyed a wide array of activities on Lag B’Omer. Early Childhood had a wonderful time meeting all the animals at Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, NJ. First and second grade students were treated to field activities with Coach Calise. Middle school students went to Coastal Sports and had friendly competitions of gaga, dodge ball, basketball, volleyball and archery tag. Students in grades three through five participated in Yavneh’s Third Annual Lag B’Omer Maccabiah; thirteen different teams were represented. After opening ceremonies on campus, the students traveled to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades where softball, basketball and soccer competitions took place. The students not only had the opportunity to learn about their own team’s country, but through exchanging stickers of the other teams’ flags, they were able to gain knowledge about all the Maccabiah countries. Finally, the students returned back to Yavneh for closing ceremonies and awarded team Argentina first place.
