In the May 21, 2015 issue, Teaneck resident Stephen Gruber announced the formation of a new group to combat “a lack of transparency, integrity and financial responsibility by both the Teaneck Board of Education and the Teaneck Town Council and Municipality.” Mr. Gruber states that the group welcomes “Anyone and everyone who lives in Teaneck” and that, “Everyone is invited to speak his or her mind…. Please look us up on Facebook Teaneck: End the Madness.”

In fact, Mr. Gruber’s Facebook group was not designed to be open to everyone in Teaneck. The group was established to be accessed only by selected individuals: as a screenshot of Mr. Gruber’s first post on the page, dated May 8, states, “The group ‘Teaneck: End the Madness’ is secret so if you friend me I will add you to the group…(sic)”

When the Facebook group was launched earlier this month, I signed up and was initially accepted. But then, within hours, I was blocked from access. Apparently, I am not the kind of Teaneck resident they wanted to be posting or even reading other people’s comments.

I commend Mr. Gruber’s stated desire for more openness and integrity on Teaneck’s governing bodies — but the goals of his group would be far more credible if it had been founded in the spirit of those principles.

Regarding the article “Fair Lawn Residents Salvage Torahs in Paterson:” B’H” I am happy to report that we have raised the funds we needed for the Torah restoration project.
