Ma’ayanot Softball Team Heading to the Championship

On Wednesday, June 3, the Ma’ayanot Rapids softball team went up against North Shore, for the first time this season, in the semi-final game. It was yet another game dominated by the Rapids’ offense.

Behind amazing pitching by Noa Applebaum (’17)—who pitched the entire game and did not let any North Shore players pass first base— the team did not make any fielding errors, and was stellar in their defensive play. Catcher Sarah Berman (’18) held onto a tough third-strike foul ball, that ended the bottom of the first. Noa struck out 10 batters, and Elisheva Katz (‘16) made a great play at second base, ending a potentially tough inning. Tamar Mendelson (’15) added a few plays at first, one assisted by Noa and the other assisted by shortstop Sarah Hiller (’15).

While North Shore held the Ma’ayanot hitters scoreless for the first few innings with solid pitching, the game eventually broke open, and the Rapids jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Noa went three-for-three with a triple, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored; Sarah Hiller went two-for-two and a run scored; Danielle Pasternak (‘18) got two singles and scored a run; Adina Falk (‘17) got a single and scored a run. Seniors Tamar Mendelson, Nicole Rothenberg, and Aliza Kaszovitz all scored as well. They finished up the win, and ended the game 10-0.

The championship game is being played on Friday, June 12 against SAR.
