Israeli Hoops Team Heads to Camps for Campaign Games

The Elitzur Israel basketball team arrived in the US for a tour of campaign games. The games were played against various Jewish camps across Pennsylvania and New York—Mesorah, Moshava, Morasha, Nesher, Ramah and Senaca Lake.

In each camp, the Elitzur players organized challenging sport activities for the kids, afterwhich the main game commenced—featuring the camp’s team versus Team Elizur.

During the week, the team stayed at Bnei Akiva’s Camp Moshava and on Shabbat the delegation was hosted in Bergenfield, New Jersey, organized by the Geller family. During Shabbat, a shiur was given by Rabbi Josh Kahn, Associate Principal for Judaic Studies at Torah Academy of Bergen County. The team participated in a joint activity with the local youth and received a tour of the neighborhood.

During their journey, the team has won four of their games and lost only once. Elitzur President, Eli Etzion, says he was very happy about the connection that was made between Elitzur and the American Jewish communities; he hopes that it is the start of a special relationship.
