Yachad Holds First Family Shabbaton After COVID

Over the Memorial Day weekend of May 27-29, hundreds of Yachad families, members, staff and volunteers flocked to The Armon Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut for the first Family Shabbaton since 2019 and the 34th Northeast one. The theme of the weekend was “Reconnect, Recharge, Refresh” and that’s what many of the attendees did. As with past shabbatonim, those attending were a mix of long-time attendees and a host of new families and members. Dozens of workshops and programs were held throughout the weekend for families, siblings and Yachad members alike. The weekend was also an excellent opportunity for participants to connect with each other and share issues and concerns, as well as discover new resources.

Among the speakers were: Noted educator and presenter Dr. David Pelcovitz, OU EVP Emeritus Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, OU Co-Exec. VP Rabbi Moshe Hauer, OU Co-Exec. VP Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph, Dr. Julie Joseph, RIETS Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Michael Taubes, Bassie Taubes, Dr. Stephen Glicksman, Yeshivat Noam rebbe Rabbi Yehuda Minchenberg, RIETS Dean Rabbi Menachem Penner, Rebbetzin Adeena Penner, Dr. Rayzel Yaish and Amanda Levy. On Motzei Shabbos, after a shabbaton-wide musical Havdala, a lively and fun game show with Digital Dov (Katz) took place and was followed by a beautiful melave malka with dancing and a kumzitz. The weekend was capped off on Sunday morning with a Wacky Science program with Dr. Schnitzel and the Great Big Yachad Challah Bake and interactive program with famed speaker and influencer Charlene Aminoff.
