CBY’s Yitzchak Yaakov Kollel Boker To Expand to Five Days a Week

(Courtesy of CBY) For the past 20 years, a dedicated group of ba’alei batim have been meeting in Congregation Bnai Yeshurun to begin their days the best way possible —with Torah learning. Named after one of its founders, Dr. Yitzchak Belizon, z”l, the kollel is led by CBY’s own Rav Zvi Sobolofsky — one of YU’s most popular magdei shiur and a world renowned posek as well as serving as mara d’asra of Bergenfield’s Ohr HaTorah. The Yitzchak Yaakov Kollel Boker participants have met thrice weekly to participate in shiurim following the limud taking place in Yeshiva University.

With great anticipation, the CBY beit midrash committee is excited to announce the expansion of Yitzchak Yaakov Kollel Boker from three days a week, to five. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays will continue to follow the format of shiurim on different sugyot in the mesechta, while Monday and Thursday will feature bikius on-the-daf shiurim proceeding throughout the year, culminating with a siyum masechet.

Beginning Wednesday Sept. 7, Kollel Boker will kick off Masechet Gittin with the goal of completing the entire mesechta by June.

Kollel Boker is an excellent opportunity to start off your day with a set seder. The shiur begins at 6:20 a.m. and is followed by 7:00 a.m. Shacharit. The opportunity to learn from a rebbe of Rabbi Sobolofsky’s caliber is something not lost on the participants.

“For the past several years, I have had the pleasure of participating in the Kollel Boker limud and have developed a special relationship with the rebbe. It has completely changed my work and family life,” said a long-time participant. “I am very much looking forward to the additional days of learning and to making my first ever siyum on a full masechta of Gemara.”

Masechet Gittin—consisting of 90 blatt—is a limud that most consider attainable and its completion “a realistic goal for all involved,” said Henry Orlinsky, a founder and active participant in the Kollel Boker. “In the past, we have had over 20 in-person participants and more on Zoom. We are looking forward to welcoming many more members this coming zman.”

Kollel Boker is best experienced in person, but is also available on Zoom with shiurim subsequently posted on the Kollel Boker Whatsapp group, on www.bcbm.org and on www.yutorah.org.

Join the Kollel Boker at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun this coming Wednesday morning at 6:20 a.m.
