Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ (JFS) is offering a free parenting series, The Parent Academy, for parents of children of varying ages, throughout the 2022-2023 school year.
January’s Parent Academy, “Peaceful Parenting,” will be tailored to parents of children ages 4-14 and will be taking place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at JCC MetroWest, 760 Northfield Ave, West Orange.
The workshop will utilize concepts from The Kazdin Parenting Method®. The Kazdin Method® draws on research to help parents develop the specific behaviors they want, and also to develop broader character traits such as honesty, kindness and respect. There is strong research that has focused on how parents can provide a nurturing environment.
Parents and caregivers will learn tools to help:
Strengthen cooperation
Decrease yelling
Lessen arguments
Develop effective parenting intervention
Build a nurturing home environment
