At the end of 2021, Teaneck native Eric Samson, who now resides in West Orange, teamed up with his friend and local mason Walter Moriarty to form Rinse Auto Detailing. After years of scrambling to find someone reliable to clean out his car for Passover, Samson tapped his own experience with technology to create a digital-forward, on-demand car-washing service in the Teaneck area. Now, Samson and Moriarty are bringing the magic of their business to the winter season with Rinse Snow Removal—an efficient way to book your snow services ahead of time.
The idea for snow removal came to Samson after struggling to help his parents in Teaneck every winter. “Their landscapers don’t do snow removal, and it feels like no one had a reference for a company in Teaneck who could do it,” he explained. “I figured that since we have the ability to create the technology and optimize this service for people, we should be able to make sure that everyone gets proper coverage.”
It helps, of course, that Samson’s partner Moriarty is already experienced in this area and owns all of the equipment necessary to run a snow removal company: trucks with snow plows, commercial salt spreaders, snowblowers and a crew of professionals that Moriarty works with the rest of the year.
Samson, who runs digital marketing agency Group8A, utilized his own resources to build up an advanced website, including an instant quote generator, to make the service as efficient and convenient as possible. “We wanted to build a better system,” he shared.
A key part of the Rinse business model is allowing people to book snow-removal services ahead of the winter season, which ensures that Rinse can organize its resources to make sure everyone has coverage. “The problem is that after snowfall, you have to call someone to shovel snow, and you don’t know when they’re coming or if they’re coming,” Samson explained. “This way, people can have a committed resource, regardless of whether they have landscapers at their disposal or not.”
Samson continued that if Rinse has availability beyond its seasonal customers, people will be able to book same-day appointments through the website. However, signing up for a seasonal pass with Rinse has benefits beyond convenience and reliability: Same-day bookings will be priced according to demand, whereas seasonal pricing is a general estimate not subject to dynamic pricing.
“What we’ve done is taken the average snowfall over the last five years…we’re estimating there to be five snowfalls that range between four and six inches this winter,” shared Samson. “Our instant estimator will calculate the seasonal cost based on the square footage of your property, which we adjust based on answers to questions like how many cars you can fit in your driveway and the like. If there’s more snowfall than expected, we will charge a per-removal fee, and if there’s less, we will give you a refund. Aside from the savings, signing up for the season is really just a commitment from us that we will be there for you.”
For Samson, snow removal is just another piece of the puzzle in the greater mission of Rinse: to offer convenient, efficient, on-demand services to everyone in the Teaneck area. “I think if there’s something that I can do with technology to create a solution, and we’re confident that we can offer a service for people, we’re going to go ahead with it,” he said, hinting that Rinse may be offering other home services such as gutter cleaning and power washing in the near future. And, as if the benefits of booking the winter season with Rinse Snow Removal were not enough, Samson shared that customers will receive special pricing on new driveways when the season ends, thanks to Moriarty’s paving business.
Thanks to Samson and Moriarty, clean driveways and stress-free winters are just a click away. Get your instant quote for the season at www.snow.rinseauto.com.
