This week, WTA students had a chance to really enjoy the gorgeously warm weather, playing on the beautiful grounds during recess and snack break. This year, the playground expanded further, and will continue to grow as the new early childhood program continues to expand. Students of all ages love to play outside, and WTA encourages everyone to take advantage at every opportunity.

In early childhood this week, children had an opportunity to learn all about ohel Avraham during their parashat hashavua lesson. From a very early age, students learn by doing! Even better than a frontal lesson or a storybook, pre-k children had a chance to dress up as Avraham, Sarah and the malachim; They retold the story, including the open-sided tent and the food that Avraham and Sarah prepared for their guests. Incorporating age-appropriate play into children’s learning ensures that these lessons will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

One of the most exciting steps forward that Westchester Torah Academy has taken this year is the implementation of its own bus service! The school is thrilled to be able to take care of its own needs, in this most important of school operations crucial to all. With the new program, WTA is able to have total control over bus routes and drivers and make arrangements for field trips with ease. Over Chol HaMoed Sukkot, WTA had a chance to send a majority of students to different Sukkot-themed trips, and the WTA Warriors—the amazing basketball team—takes their own buses almost every week in their drive towards the YMSSA championships!
