The eighth graders had an unbelievable time at their shabbaton last Shabbat! The event began on Thursday night with a pre-shabbaton ruach event. Students began the evening with Maariv and words of Torah about oneg Shabbat from Rabbi E. The event continued with a Challah Bake, where students were able to bring home challah to their families. The girls also had the special opportunity to make dough together with Mrs. Boim, for challah that was eaten during the shabbaton.
After a pizza dinner, students participated in a Cholent Cook Off. The grade was divided into different groups and were given cholent ingredients. At the shabbaton Friday night oneg, each student was able to taste the different cholents and vote on their favorites. The fun continued on Friday night, which began with a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat. The weekend included meaningful sessions and speakers, inspiring tefillah, zemirot and divrei Torah and bonding time with classmates and teachers. Shabbat ended with the highlight of the weekend, a musical Havdala and chagiga, led by Rabbi Alter and accompanied by students and Rabbi E. Thanks to all of the parent volunteers for helping to create such a meaningful and memorable experience for the eighth graders.
