(Ma’ayanot Sports) Tuesday night Ma’ayanot celebrated their student athletes with their annual sports dinner. Parents and fans were also invited.

The night started off with a welcome from senior Naomi Honikman who has been a member of the outdoor and indoor soccer team for four years. She was awarded the Senior Sportsmanship Award.

Each team was introduced by their coaches while the coach gave out awards for stellar play throughout the season. Captains then gave their teams’ thoughtful gifts to their coaches in appreciation for such a wonderful season.

Varsity soccer said goodbye to their head coach Moshe “Ziggy” Zharnest who celebrated a nine year career (including two Covid years) with five championships and two undefeated seasons. The coach was entered onto a special plaque that celebrates Ma’ayanot Soccer Hall of Fame members.

Teams got to take pictures in the photo booth with sport shtick and look at the giant board of seasonal photos. The night ended with a full montage made by one of their own fellow students, senior hockey captain, Kira Jacobs.

After two years, students had finally been able to experience a normal full athletic year. It was so special and a great way to end the school year.
