(YYL) The rain had come to a halt on Sunday by the time the first pitch was thrown. In the top of the first inning, the Nina Eizikovitz – Links@EXP Mets were able to hold the Camp Regesh Phillies to two runs, thanks, in large part to Ruby Breda, who caught a fly ball in the infield for a crucial out. During the bottom of the first inning, the Mets responded to the Phillies with two runs scored, with RBI singles by Haley Holand and Chanie Sussman, and the Mets were just getting started.
In the bottom of the second inning, four runs were scored by the Mets. Among those batters who helped score the four runs in the second inning were Gail Barry, Sami Nussbaum, Olivia Rosen, Rikki Yolkut and Sabrina Wainberg. But the Mets added to the score with an additional four runs in each of the next two innings, with phenomenal batting by Kira Dickstein, Emmie Beckerman, Cara Teicher and Miri Apfelbaum, among others.
Thanks to excellent fielding all around, the Mets were able to hold the Phillies to just one run from the second through fifth innings. In the top of the final inning, the Phillies were able to score two runs, but it was too little too late. The Mets won the game, with a final score of 14 to 5, Congratulations to both teams, and to all the coaches that gave them great seasons.
