Spotlight on New Milford Election: Seymour and Urena

Seymour:

I am not a politician. I am a husband, father and concerned citizen. I share in the same concerns as my neighbors in New Milford. I am determined to build a better and brighter future for our children and families.

Campaigning has afforded me the opportunity to meet many of you and learn firsthand of your needs. I want to preserve our quality of life and unique small-town charm. My wife Lisa and I are the proud parents of an 18-month-old daughter and, like you, want to ensure our children can continue to enjoy the peacefulness of our neighborhood.

In a small, tight-knit community like ours, we need strong leadership that sets partisanship aside and places New Milford first. My experience has equipped me with the skills necessary to introduce creative bipartisan solutions to our council.

After graduating from law school, I clerked for a family law judge and negotiated the common ground necessary to solve complex problems. I have volunteered over six years for low-income women who are victims of abuse and domestic violence. I have been honored to be their voice and now I am ready to be yours.

As your councilman, my priorities would be to stabilize property taxes, improve recreational fields, improve services and preserve our quality of life.

Given the opportunity to serve, I will work to ensure that New Milford remains affordable and safe. Put New Milford First! Vote for Seymour and Urena on November 3rd.

Running with Seymour is Mel Urena:

On November 3, 2015, I am looking forward to the opportunity to represent you and your family as a councilmember in our town of New Milford.

I am not your typical politician looking to bring dated and ineffective ideas to the table. Along with our concerns for preserving a Better, Stronger, and Safer New Milford, I bring over two decades of experience as an Information Systems executive, with keen expertise in resolving complicated arbitrations and contract negotiations. This unique experience has prepared me with the skillset to work effectively with people, manage complicated situations, work on budgets and communicate efficiently—skills which are beneficial and necessary to be a successful councilman.

My goals are to improve and protect New Milford’s future through the improvement of our recreational fields, preserving the safety of our residents, and most importantly, keeping our taxes down. We can make our town stronger by working together, guided by our similar interests and goals, and not by focusing on our differences.

It is important to keep New Milford a family-oriented community, led by strong leaders who will work together for you, while remaining singularly diligent with our tax dollars.

I wholeheartedly believe in putting New Milford First. On November 3, 2015, when you walk into the ballot booth, vote according to what is best for your town, knowing the two people who have your best interests in mind are Seymour and Urena.
