On Thursday, October 22, the dedication of the newly renovated Jacobs Family Solarium on the Women’s League Pavilion at Daughters of Israel took place. The Solarium was generously dedicated by Bruce and Ilene Jacobs of Morristown in memory of Joel and Helen Jacobs, Bruce’s parents. The fully refurbished space features new flooring, wall coverings and furnishings, among other enhancements.
“We are so fortunate that due to the generosity of the Jacobs family, our residents on the Women’s League Pavilion will enjoy a completely redesigned and refurbished solarium,” remarked Susan Grosser, Executive Director of Daughters of Israel.
The Jacobs family has close ties to Daughters of Israel. Bruce’s mother, Helen Jacobs, and his maternal grandmother, Esther Stark, were residents of the Home. In addition, in the 1950s, Bruce’s paternal grandfather, Henry Jacobs, bequeathed in his will a gift to Daughters for the “new structure” being built.
Continuing in the family legacy, the Jacobs have continued their philanthropic support to Daughters of Israel, and our residents will now benefit from a beautifully renovated solarium in which to relax, socialize or watch the large flat-screen television.
Bruce Jacobs remarked, “I am pleased to follow in my family’s footsteps to support Daughters of Israel in honor of my parents, and hope that we inspire our children to continue our family’s legacy of philanthropy.”
