On Tuesday night, November 24, the TABC Storm traveled to the Lion’s Den to take on the MTA Lions. The two teams have been rivals for some time, and this game was going to get physical. Right from the faceoff, TABC applied pressure against the MTA defense and got quite a few shots on net, but MTA’s goalie kept them in the game.
About three minutes into the game, defenseman Ezra Rotblat took advantage of an MTA turnover and blasted a slap shot past the goalie to give TABC the early 1-0 lead. With forty seconds left in the first period, Yonatan Sturm beautifully fed Efraim Tiger the ball. Tiger buried it on the backhand.
Halfway into the second period, Ari Solomon pounced on a loose ball in the corner and perfectly set up Yitzy Kopstick right in the middle. Kopstick one timed the ball past the goaltender for a commanding 3-0 TABC lead. Later in that period, TABC viciously controlled the ball in MTA’s zone for about three minutes. The ball finally found its way to the point, and Akiva Weider was right there to launch a sizzling slap shot into the net for TABC’s fourth goal of the game.
In the third period, Akiva Hain did a nifty toe drag and scored on the backhand. TABC won 5-0, helped by the stellar performance of goaltender Refi Minsky.
