Naaleh Eagles JV Basketball Wins the Champs

(Naaleh sports) On Wednesday, March 15, the inaugural Naaleh Eagles girls JV basketball team won the MYHSAL B league championship, with a score of 45-36! The Eagles met the SKA Sonics at the HALB gym in Woodmere. The mood in the gym was electric with many fans there to cheer on both teams. This was the third meeting of the season for these two teams who both displayed incredible athleticism, skill and sportsmanship.

The Eagles, composed of all ninth graders, showed outstanding defense and excellent teamwork that led to the win. The MVP of the game was Adina Haselkorn, who led scoring with 16 points, and played phenomenally the entire game. Molly Pearlman contributed nine points, and played outstanding defense. Esti Mallin also had nine points, seven in the fourth quarter, to help secure the win. She was strong on the boards, leading in rebounding for the team. Leba Staum, team captain, contributed three points to the win. Yaeli Baron had six points for the team. Ahuva Fink hit a great shot in the third quarter to add two points to the team total. Eliana Mogul, starting point guard, kept control of the ball throughout the game. The team also includes team captain Tova Rotblat, Yakeira Fleischman, Yael Horowitz, Aliza Pfeiffer and Chaya Shafar, as well as the team managers, Shoshana Goldstein and Rivka Hagler—and coaches Stephanie Greenspan and Rifky Shor—all integral to the team’s successful season.

Coach Stephanie Greenspan had this to say about the win: “I am so incredibly proud of our entire team! They have grown so much over the course of the season and truly played their hearts out as one unit to win this championship.”
