(BC Flag Football) This past Sunday, under sunny skies and cold temps, the new Bergen County Girls Flag Football League got off to a rousing start with their inaugural event—a free clinic open to the entire community. With an all star lineup of instructors and nearly 60 girls registered for the clinic, the cold temperatures could not diminish from the excitement. New York Giants linebacker Elerson Smith assisted in the festivities, helping the girls with some basic football skills and taking selfies and signing autographs. Head football coach Mike DeFazio from Ramapo HS, one the top tier high school football programs in the state, helped lead the clinic as well.
After some warmups, the girls learned different drills as they rotated stations. Finally they broke out into three 10 minute games of flag football. Before leaving everyone gathered for a big group photo and a raffle for a Daniel Jones autographed football was won by Reyna Honig of Teaneck. It was an awesome experience for everyone. There’s still time to get in on the fun by registering for the spring season. Visit www.bergengirls.com to register or for more information call 201-314-8931.
