Understanding both the communal need to celebrate and commemorate in meaningful ways and the educational imperative to transmit practical values to our children, Yad Leah has developed several robust volunteer programs. These programs are specifically designed to create meaningful, impactful and unifying group experiences.

Yad Leah event coordinators work with each volunteer group to customize a unique chesed experience for your occasion. All projects are hands-on with multiple options that include participating in the Pack-for-Israel Volunteer experience in the NJ Volunteer Center, a newly designed multi pronged bar/bat mitzvah program and so much more.

Yad Leah was started in 2004 as a way to share a couple of duffle bags of gently used clothing with a few needy families in Israel. Fast forward 18 years, Yad Leah now collects, sorts and sends over 500,000 items of clothing each year, serving over 10,000 needy Israelis and empowering them with confidence, dignity and self respect. But the impact doesn’t stop there.

In addition to delivering basic clothing essentials to thousands of struggling families, Yad Leah provides opportunities for multi generational families, shuls and schools to make a difference and see the tremendous impact of their positive actions.

Yael Bleicher, Yad Leah director of community engagement, is excited that “the new menu of volunteer options gives participants the ability to see first-hand their own power to transform an article of clothing into a vehicle for providing dignity and self-respect for those in need.”
