(Bruriah Sports) Last Thursday, the Bruriah Lightning varsity volleyball team won the championship for the second year in a row! Finishing the season in first place in their division and thus securing home court advantage, Bruriah faced off against Magen David in the final game. This victory was particularly rewarding as earlier in the season, Bruriah lost their only match in two years against Magen David.
When reflecting on the team’s success over the past season, senior Atalia Levy, the team captain, attributes it to the team’s incredible friendships that extend well beyond the court. “We were really focused on building camaraderie. We had several team lunches and we even had a volleyball team shabbaton! We all became really good friends and we genuinely love spending time with each other. You can see how that manifests itself in our game.”
Coach Miriam Brickman took note of the tremendous achdus of the team and how it is indicative of the overall atmosphere that athletics at Bruriah creates. She shared, “The whole school has this amazing ability to come together as one. It doesn’t matter what town you’re from or what grade you’re in. At Bruriah, everyone shines and brings out the best in others in the process!”
