The Moriah School (Englewood, NJ), one of the nation’s premier Jewish day schools, educating more than 700 students across Bergen County, will be hosting its 50th annual dinner on Saturday, February 20. The dinner will take place at the Hilton Meadowlands Hotel in East Rutherford, NJ, at 8, on Motzei Shabbat. This year’s honorees are Jessica and Meyer Orbach (Guests of Honor), Ali (nee Budin, Moriah ’95) and Jason Auerbach and Bracha Bluman (Rabbi J Shelley Applbaum Award).
Jessica and Meyer Orbach’s priorities are family, community and society. They have recently given Moriah the largest donation in the school’s history, enabling Moriah to stand strong and take on the challenges of the next 50 years. Passionate about education, the Orbachs are unwavering in their desire to make Moriah the best it can be by playing an active role in its organizational leadership, participating in day-to-day volunteering and by making it a financial priority. Supporting Jewish day school education was taught to them by their mother and mother-in-law Yoheved Orbach z”l, for whom they named the campus in 2014.
Ali (née Budin, Moriah ‘95) and Jason Auerbach live in Englewood with their children, Henry (Moriah ‘23) and Lucy (Moriah ‘26). Jason is currently an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and a member of the firm’s investment management group. Until recently, Ali worked as a registered dietitian for Slim-Fast. Luckily for Moriah, Ali is now able to devote a significant amount of time as a Moriah volunteer, serving on several school committees. Ali and Jason are strong advocates of Moriah and are always welcoming to new families in the community and acquainting them with the advantages of a Moriah education.
Moriah is incredibly fortunate to have a leading, world-class team of teachers and administrators. This year, Bracha Bluman, who has been on Moriah’s staff since 1986, will receive the Rabbi J. Shelley Applbaum Service Award. Morah Bracha has taught over 600 kindergarten students, including children of students. Her classroom has been a loving and nurturing environment that fosters educational growth. Over the years, Morah Bracha has been privileged to work with Moriah’s many outstanding administrators, co-teachers and colleagues. Bracha and her husband, Mark (“Mr. Morah Bracha”), are proud parents and grandparents, including four Moriah graduates.
