Just a few months after the murder of her son and daughter-in-law by Palestinian terrorists, Rabbanit Chana Henkin will visit the The Synagogue of the Suburban Torah Center in Livingston, Jan. 8-9, for a Shabbat of inspiration.

“It is a great honor for us to host Rabbanit Henkin for Shabbat, and a great privilege to learn from her,” said Rabbi Elie Mischel of Suburban Torah. “She is an extraordinary educator and a forward thinker, and has made a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of Jewish women—including many women in our own community.”

“The rabbanit and her husband, Rav Yehuda Henkin, have recently experienced extraordinary, unspeakable loss. Yet, they continue to work tirelessly on behalf of the Jewish people, with strength and commitment that inspires and encourages all of us,” Rabbi Mischel said.

On Oct. 1, during the Sukkot holiday, Rabbanit Henkin’s son and daughter-in-law, Rabbi Eitam and Na’ama Henkin, were driving to their home in Neria when Palestinian terrorists ambushed the car, murdering them before the eyes of their four children, ages 10 months to nine years.

Rabbanit Henkin will address the community in a talk titled “Reflections Following Sukkot,” on Saturday morning, Jan. 9, at approximately 11, immediately following Shabbat services.

She will also be presenting a program for women only on Friday night at a private residence in Livingston.

Henkin is the founder and dean of Nishmat: The Jeanie Schottenstein Center for Advanced Torah Study for Women in Jerusalem, which provides intensive and in-depth educational and leadership opportunities for Jewish women.
