Acclaimed musician and faculty member at Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School David Schlusselberg will be appearing in concert this Saturday night, January 9, at 8 at Congregation Etz Chaim in Livingston, NJ. The event is a fundraiser for the RKYHS Israel Fund, which offers scholarship awards for students to spend a gap year learning in Israel.
Schlusselberg just came out with his second album entitled “Shema Koleinu,” and has recently played at events for Heichal Hatorah, Ramaz, and Yeshivat Reishit Yerushalayim. He will be accompanied by RKYHS faculty member Rabbi Mayer Erps on percussion, RKYHS alum Scott Tajfel on bass (RKYHS class of 2015), and Yair Shahak on violin.
The RKYHS Israel Fund was started in 2014 to give students scholarship awards to spend a gap year learning in Israel, often the only way in which some students will be able to have the opportunity to spend that pivotal time in Israel.
The concert is co-sponsored by Congregation Etz Chaim and Suburban Torah in Livingston, and AABJ&D and Ohr Torah in West Orange. The concert will be held at Etz Chaim, 1 Lafayette Drive, Livingston, NJ, at 8 on Saturday night, January 9. There is a suggested donation of $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
