TABC Presents Evening of Scholarship

This past Thursday evening, five exceptional student scholars presented at TABC’s annual Evening of Scholarship. The event provided an opportunity for the sophomores in TABC’s Scholars Program to present the research projects they have been working on over the course of this year. The scholars each researched a topic that piqued their curiosity and worked under the guidance of a mentor with expertise in their topic of choice. Topics ranged across a plethora of disciplines and included, “The Impact of Smartphones and Social Media on Teens,” “The Development of the Depictions of Space Through Sci-Fi Film History,” “The Evolution of Zionism Leading up to Israeli Statehood,” “Aviation Safety,” and “Developments in the Modern Car Market.” Following these presentations, the freshman scholars presented short previews of the research projects they will soon commence. The evening concluded with a short dvar Torah from scholar alum David Benisz, and the presentation of certificates and a gift, which this year was the book “Thinking, Fast and Slow” by Daniel Kahneman. Mazal tov to graduating scholars Rafi Benedict, Shamai Bernstein, Yehuda Harris, Daniel Lechter and Ezra Winslow. Special thank you to the co-directors of the Scholars Program, Rabbi Shaya First and Cary Riker.
